New to this trunking scan, so please bear with me.
Just wondering if anyone in the Thunder Bay Ontario area has had any luck scanning the local EDACS system, or if it's even possible?
Have added the EDACS frequencies listed in the master database for our area.
Have current firmware, and ProVoice, DMR, NXDN activated.
ID search is on.
Have only very rarely heard garbled transmission on the EDACS system. Otherwise nothing.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, if you're referring to the Thunder Bay Police, they are unfortunately encrypted.

I can't speak for using a scanner, but when I put them into Unitrunker on my computer, I was able to see activity. Talk groups and radio ids were visible.

I'm here a lot
Thanks for the reply. I assumed the encryption. But being new to this trunking thing, shouldn’t I see activity on the frequencies, even with the encryption?

The talkgroup description should show and ENC should display.

If it's anything like the 436. It will display it for a short second then go away. If you are using software to operate the scanner and virtual control. You should be able to log the Talk group and perhaps radio ID.

But without that it's a hit n miss on it displaying for a long enough period to catch it.

There has been talk on this in the uniden forums.

So I figured, that I should be able to see at least some activity.
I attribute it to user unfamiliarity, presuming I haven’t figured out the right settings as of yet.

Software to operate the scanner is beyond me at this point. Just trying to get familiar with the basic operation of the unit, and Sentinel software.
I’ve attached a screen shot of the frequencies anD talk group supplied from the database. These are in my favourites list.

North West site is on, the other 2 have been avoided.

Anything here I’m missing?

Thanks
