To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

EDACS WIDE AND NARROW BANDS

I really do not want to sound like somebody that does not have anything good to say to you!
Your asking very good and intelligent questions, but about 90% of all questions around here have been asked in some form or another.
You can get some instant gratification to these burning questions if you make use of the search feature found near the top of your screen.
Click on that and when the page loads, you'll see a heading that says: "Search Query". To the left of the first box that you can type in, it says: "Search for Keywords", click there and type this in:
edacs wide AND narrow
What this does is it tells the server to search any post that contains the words 'edacs narrow' AND it must also contain the word 'wide'. Any matches that it finds will be returned.
Scroll down until you find the post titled: "EDACS Wide vs. Narrow" That is the one that you want to read to answer your question.
There is a caveat to using search. What you ask of it .. is what you get. To show this, switch your search terms around to be:
edacs narrow AND wide
Now try and find the post "EDACS Wide vs. Narrow" :wink: Lastly, if you know who posted and some of the keywords that they may have used, type in the keywords and also type in who the author is to get only those posts.

crayon,I don't understand why ever time I post you come behind me and rip me do you get off on that or something? I am asking questions so I can understand things and maybe someone else wants to know the same thing but won't ask because when they do they get ripped or see people like me getting ripped. when i came to this board I thought it was great and had some valuable info but this will be my last post and the moderator would you please delete me from your data base I no longer want to be associated with radio reference. I will go to another place on the net where you are not ripped for asking questions, to the others here you have been alot of help and I truely appreciate your input on my questions and wish the rest of you the best

Chances are you will always find what you will need quicker than you will waiting for a reply to a post. People don't mind helping you as long as you show some effort to make sure this hasn't been adressed 1,000 time already
Besides, when people have responded to the same posts over and over again they may not be willing to do so anymore. You'll probally end up in the end finding more about what you need by searching old threads.
