Potential for Total Recall. The system has long been over-designed and under-maintained. The radio system is as fouled up as is the morale within this Department.

What I want to know is what he was listening to on an MT2000? There are only a scant few twp. services in analog on that system, and I highly doubt that an MT would be able to follow that system anyway (although the MT family of radios was great for being able to turn off auto-affiliation for trunk systems, and you could even re-map the PTT to do something other than transmit via the RSS...).

Could he be referring to the analog Fire (or even EMS) patch(es)? I hear they've been having problems with the patch and keep changing the configuration around. Today, I heard a fire page go out, but you were only hearing the dispatcher on the patch -- no field units unlike before.

I'm not sure how long that's been going on, in part because my radio will open squelch when it decodes the 2-tone page, and resets squelch within 30 seconds. Sometimes the field units don't reply to dispatch during that time, so not hearing them wouldn't catch my attention for a while. I don't regularly monitor EMS, but they may be subject to the same issues.

Ahh, the patches! I didn't even think about those!

Now that the tress have de-foliated, I can hear Franklin & Edison a lot stronger than I did in the summer. I've actually been spending some time lately listening to them, instead of just Somerset & Morris counties...

Early today I was hearing the dispatcher side of the conversation, replying to field units. However, the audio from the units were not coming across.

You used to hear pages, dispatcher, and units all on the patch. Digital audio from the units coming into the dispatch console, and analog dispatcher audio direct from the console.

I heard they were experiencing problems with pages not making it out, then only tones were going out but no voice messages, dispatchers dekeying the patch between tones (causing pagers to close squelch and stop recording the page), and now apparently field units aren't coming through.

Well, looks like the "patch to the simulcast" is back up and running now on the Fire side. I'm hearing both the tones and the simulcast from the TRS on the page out channel of 460.52500 PL 136.5. After talking with my connection that works for the township, I was informed that the TRS was in fact not working properly, and is also in the process of having the consoles updated. Maybe that was what the problem was in the first place??? That's all I know for now...

Yep, the audio feed patch comes from within the consoles, so you're correct about that!

I've just been listening to the TRS directly, I had no idea there was a problem...
