I'm new to DSDPlus, currently running 2.186 Fast Lane Release.

I'm monitoring Illinois STARCOM21 ~3200 talkgroups downloaded from RR, and would like to edit tg priorities but I'm having difficuly. Editting with Excel, tried multiple CSV types, but each time I save the DSDPlus.groups file I stop seeing group names and aliases while running DSDPlus. I'm sure its user error, as the downloaded original works perfectly (minus priorities i'd like). Hopefully someone edits with Excel, and can p[oint me in the right direction. ANY help is appreciated.

I'm not familiar with Notepad++, does it allow to layout in grid format and sort similar to Excel?
3200 entries is a lot to go through manually 1 by 1.

I downloaded the DSDPlus version of the groups for my area, and can easily manipulate them in Excel. Loading the file as a CSV and choosing " , " as the separator works and sets things up in a grid format allowing easy sorting/filtering etc.

Unfortunately I think I have not figured out the correct file CSV formats for saving the file or possible the "File Origin" to be selected when loading. CSV, CSV UTF-8, CSV (MS-DOS), CSV (Macintosh) save types; "65001: Unicode (UTF-8)", "437: OEM United States", "20127: US-ASCII", "MS-DOS PC-8" when importing.

I have tried a few methods of loading and saving the "DSDPlus.groups" file but each time I start scanning my talkgroup names/aliases no longer show.

I am SURE it is user error, and given time I will figure it out, I was just hoping someone else had gone through this and could post what formats to use for this file so no data appears lost to DSDPlus.

I'll be sure to post back if I figure it out first, hopefully saving the next guy some trouble :)

I would bet it the plain vanilla CSV, first on your list.

Notepad is super easy, it will also show the garbage all of those other formats put in your file.

Csv=comma separated values, it's just that easy.

I was able to accomplish what I was looking for in a round about way. I sorted through the massive 3200 records, and saved in excel as a CSV file with UTF-8 encoding. Then loaded that saved file into notepad++ and adjusted to create a file format matched up with the original. No insterted tabs, or quotation marks, or any thing else that Excel was doing to the file layout/format. The end result works perfectly.
