I've noticed that as of late there seems to be two channels with data. The usual that are on 866.03750 or 866.28750 but now an additional one is on 867.06250. If my radio uses the one on 867.06250 it will go silent but if I lock out that channel the radio will work normally.

Just a heads up in case any of you are having difficulty scanning this system recently.

They are preparing to add more LCN's to the system. They are actually only using 15 LCN's at the moment rather than the usual 18. While they are doing their testing they have actually made a TEST system with its own control channel.

So in the near future you will see 20 LCN's (with one control channel), so really 19 usable LCN's.

Anyone that monitors this system will have to reprogram their scanners when they are done with their testing and we go to the 20 LCN's.

Either myself or someone else in Edmonton will post when this change happens.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

When I was thru Edmonton last year around this time, I too heard multiple EDACS CCs in that range. Another thing to consider is that there may be a "backup" system or site. I recall a public safety EDACS system I scanned, long ago, since taken down, that had a small 5-LCN backup system for use when/if the main system went down or otherwise became inoperable.

i think the backup (obscure) systems may soon be sacrificed for more lcns and pv des tgs on the main system. just my observations from what i am seeing lately.

Just press your hold button, scroll to either of those control channels and press you L/O button. For whatever reason on my BCD396T, I either have to lockout that control channel, or remove the lockout to get it to work. It all seems pretty random. Does anyone have any idea why the control channel lockout works or doesn't work?

Thanks.

EDACS edmonton LCN help!

Hey guys, I moved to Edmonton from Ontario a few weeks ago and I have never used or programmed an EDACS system into my Uniden BC246T. I attempted a set up, set the EDACS system to WIDE, then I put the frequencies in the order they are in on the RR web site. So basically, im stuck on the LCN code. I have no idea what order they are in so I just assumed they are in order. I have not herd anything on the radio in hours so I assumed I messed up somewhere. Help is appreciated!

Hi, Andrew.

Welcome to Edmonton. The frequencies in the database are in LCN order. Depending on the scanner (I'm not familiar with your model) you may have to program them in starting with channel 1 in the bank instead of channel 0.

If you want to have something to listen to in order to see if there is activity that your radio should be picking up, we have an audio feed for fire and ems available online. You can listen here - Edmonton County, Alberta (AB) Live Police, Fire, and EMS Scanners on RadioReference.com

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Jay is correct there is a back up system in Edmonton and multiple data channels. Add 868.0625 to the other two posted above. The thing is it is never tested like the Regina police do daily and you rarely hear any analog traffic other than a fire rig that gets on the back up system and calls control with no response. The backup is not monitored by dispatch even when there is a total system crash as occurred this week in Edmonton.

I also agree with MattBlack that this system will soon be phased out and LCN's increased to 24 to accomodate all the new additions to the system including Edmonton Transit. And yes more Provoice and DES groups. Darn. But at least Edmonton is keeping all dispatch on analog so far.
