Hi there,

Edmonton Police are scannable. The analog channels are monitorable in any scanner which handles EDACS systems. The digital channels - the ones which are not encrypted - are monitorable by using the Uniden BCD436HP or BCD536HP scanners with their ProVoice option.

You'll find more information on Edmonton in the Prairies and Pacific Coast forum, and more on the Uniden x36HP radios in the Uniden forums.

The answer is that it depends on whether or not you have a Uniden BCDX36HP. If you have one, it also depends on whether or not you've paid for the addon that allows you to monitor ProVoice. If the answer is "no" to either question, then you will not be able to monitor anything that is digital.

EDACS digital is different from P25 digital and therefore will not work on most other scanners. As a result, you will only be able to listen to the analog side of transmissions.
