So now that the Valley Line is operating I'm curious if anyone has managed to track down what radio system they're on. As they are a separated entity from ETS (P3 build and operate for that project) I don't believe they're on AFRRCS like the rest of Edmonton Transit. I did a quick search of TAFL and I'm not seeing anything listed for them in there.

Apparently the operators are carrying Motorola handhelds - not sure if they're P25 or DMR or something else though.

During the initial phases of testing (last year I think?) I was hearing them on the Communications Group NXDN system.
I haven't monitored them in a while, and there's also a good chance they were just using that during the construction phases and have switched over to something else now. It may be worth a listen just to confirm.
Although, if they do have Motorola portables then they're definitely not on NXDN anymore then.

Thanks Harry - Some people have seen them carrying conventional looking moto handhelds as well - wonder if they were a hold over from construction or for something else though. I'll try and pay more attention next time I'm on the train.

It could also be one of Motorola's more conventional looking PoC radios, like a TLK100 or TLK110? just as an idea
