• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello All,

First of all, I apologize in advance if this query has been posted elsewhere. I am, admittedly, not real good at posting on forums. Also, If this is in the wrong place, the moderators have my explicit permission to move this where it belongs. On a related note, I am also new to the commercial land mobile radio stuff; so, hopefully this is not a totally dumb question.

I am running the radio shop for a unit of a State-Level (primary Service Area) and Federal Level (Total Service Area) Emergency Services Agency.

I primarily maintain EF Johnson 5100 ES Portables and 5300 ES Mobiles; but, I have some need to also be able to program Motorola XTS and APX radios as well.

The locals here in the Wichita Metropolitan Area are Primarily Motorola APX from what I can see (P25 Phase 1).

The question I have is:
How do I maintain a dedicated codeplug repository for all three model lines of radios without tripling the work for programming each band? I maintain VHF, UHF, and 800mhz systems and I only want to have one codeplug per band for this particular project.

Also as an aside,
In PC Configure, Is there a way to import a series of CSV files? I haven't found a way to handle this challenge as of yet in an efficient manner.

There really is no winning deal here. eventually you migrate to Armada, but the firmware structure between M and EFJ is different.

Once you get in the the VP5,6,7000 series you will have a way to organize the EFJ codeplugs based on users.
As for the M stuff, you have to use M software and take a beating over it. Sucks I know.

I do have APX and XTS Programming Software and at least I can import CSV files in the XTS CPS.

I am a little more concerned about being able to import CSV Files. I cannot figure that one out.
