• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I wanted to post this and see if anyone has ran into a similar situation involving EF Johnson 51 model radios. I am Programming a small group of Radios in V4 and V6 models.......lets just name them Radio A thru Radio Z .......all are programmed the same with 3 Analog and 3 P25 Conventional channels using same 3 frequencies in a Bank 1, Bank 2 grouping.......really simple layout.

Here's the Problem........Radio "A" will communicate with Radios C thru Z perfectly.....but not Radio "B"
Radio "B" will communicate with Radios C thru Z perfectly......but not Radio "A"

So Radio A and B are deaf and mute "only" to each other.......but work perfect with the rest of the fleet.

Both are 51SL partial keypad models V4 and updated to latest V4 update.

LOL, it's like having siblings that are angry with each other.......they talk with everyone else but not to each other!

I have looked at the codeplug over and over.........all are the same except the PTT ID numbers which are unique to each radio......also all V4 models with partial keypads programmed using same codeplug with only PTT ID numbers changed.........no duplicates in PTT ID either which was my first thought.

Any ideas?................Thanks in Advance!

Assuming you have two other partial-keypad radios in the batch – "C" and "D", read and save all four codeplugs. Then, put the C codeplug in A, D codeplug in B, A codeplug in C, B codeplug in D. Now test. What happens? Does the problem remain in the A and B radios or did it move to the C and D radios (both when talking to E, F, G, etc.)?

No documentation provided by the Agency who inherited them from another Group…….probably haven’t seen a bench in a long time.

Great idea on swapping the codeplugs around……I’ll try that this week when I get some free time. If I have to, I guess I’ll just mark them for parts, but hoped to save them if possible. I’ll update when I try switching the codeplugs around…..Thanks!
