BC125AT: Effective programming for specific Railfan locations

I’ll get my new scanner sometime today and start programming it. Not sure yet how to do by PC, so I may just follow Danny Harmon’s advice and input them all, one at a time.

But I plan to try it out on a road trip to northern Ohio next week, to railfan Berea, Bellevue, Vickers (Northwood), and Fostoria. What is the smartest most effective way to program the BC125 AT in this case? Use one bank for each location? Or just put them all in sequentially? After this trip, can I erase a site specific bank entirely and reuse it for another site? Or does that erase everything? The manual has some dire sounding warning about deleting everything and reverting to factory settings. I don’t want to make a fatal mistake I can’t recover from.

I would just use the preprogrammed Service Search for railroads. The BC125AT searches fast enough that you won’t miss anything.
Be sure to get a better antenna to replace the one it comes with. A better antenna will make all the difference in the world when scanning railroads. The Diamond RH77CA is an excellent choice.

Thanks. I didn’t think about the built in.

As far as antennae go, can you find these off the shelf somewhere or will I need to buy online? I’m leaving for Ohio Monday so I don’t have a lot of time to shop for one. Just curious what’s the smart way to do all this

Never mind! I just got it.

DX Engineering has a small showroom and retail store in Tallmadge, Ohio, which is about 45 miles from downtown Berea. About Us

They have the antenna that Whiskey3JMC mentioned: Diamond RH-77CA

i would not really worry about what antenna as you will be on the train..right ?
i have used 1.5 inch race antennas with great satisfaction.
it is less likely to get hung up on stuff or poke an eye out.
