Effingham County Trunking

I recently aquired my first scanner of any kind. (actually it was a gift but that''ll do) . It is a Radio Shack Pro-97. Through trial and error and reading the manual I figured out how to get basic trunk scanning working in my area.

Somehow I find it hard to believe though that the Effingham County Sheriff are the only ones using radios in my area. I've used all the online available frequency suggestions here at RR and that's all I'm getting so far. No Springfield or Rincon police, no local EMS, no state police and I'm sure theres more.

Also, are all of these FM 1xx range freqs legitimate? Because I'm not getting anything in my area ever on any of the 150, 160 FM freqs.

Any suggestions for a NEWBIE would be appreciated. Thank you.

GSP uses TG 5872
By the way.
The system is tied in to Chatham County.
So you can put in there TG's and listen in.
Sad news there is P25 TG's too.
Can we said $500 for a Digital scanner.

Effingham Fire is using both VHF and the Trunking system. Effingham
Fire/Rescue has been pretty active on talkgroup 25200.

EMS and Fire are still using VHF for dispatch. 153.950 is used for Fire
Dispatch and 155.355 is used for EMS Dispatch.

Any suggestions for a NEWBIE would be appreciated. Thank you.

There is also a Yahoo group for scanning in the Savannah, GA area
