EHS ambulance in Moncton

Just saw a EHS ambulance in Moncton.

I was wondering when EHS comes to NB, do they stay on their systems or they have ANB freqs programed into their radio and just switch to a channel? If they stay on their system, will I be able to hear calls from NS?

Thanks for the info. I haven't been in NB for a long time (6 months) so scanning in the atlantic is all new to me!

I would assume once they're out of range of the TMR, they would use cell phones for voice communications. Also their tablets would continue to work.

The two hospitals in Moncton have TMR talk groups assigned but I am guessing they do not have the radios to go with them seeing as how there is no TMR site nearby for them or the EHS vehicles to work through.

Having said that it could be possible that those hospitals have the 800 MHz EHS simplex frequency 867.5625 but I doubt would be very practical. All in all I think unless the Amherst area ambulances are supplied with New Brunswick VHF portables, I think what hfxChris says is most likely the right answer.

Would have been good back when the TMR was built if they had just put in a site at Moncton and another between there and the border... Bell Aliant could have had a few more customers and would be no need for the separate 800 trunk they have in Moncton... seems like cost neutral to me but I guess there are ins and outs I don't understand.

Tablets run off of cell phone signal so they work anywhere you have cell coverage.

the TMR Coverage goes most of the way to Memramcook but I have heard them talking saying they are just coming by Crystal Palace on a clear night....it was scratchy, but they were readable.

No EHS trucks have ANB Channels and vise versa. This would have changed with TMR-2 if the project didnt fall apart.
