El Paso Going Digital

Just saw on KFOX news this morning that El Paso fire is going digital in the next 4-6 years. They got $1.6million from the feds in a grant.

Do you know what kind of system they will be moving to?

It was the local news, they didn't go too much into it. Only reason I know is the head fire dispatcher said "after this when we go digital."

Well, we still have about 5 years. I personally dont know why ELP decided to get this type of system. Does anyone know what type of system is cheaper? P25 or ProVoice? In my eyes, the city made a bad choice.

Look for Airport to be going digital first, notice the mixed analog/digital layout. Talkgroups of interest are digital, while things that dont really matter are analog.
