Well, I figured out why I wasn't hearing anything on the El Reno FCI system over the last few months. They have switched to a new digital system. However, instead of switching the existing system over to digital, they have all new frequencies.

407.050MHz
408.350MHz
409.950MHz
410.4125MHz

The system is Motorola APCO 25 digital, but it's not encrypted.

If anyone could help with the base frequency and spacing, that would be appreciated.

The new BOP systems are all the same. What happens with these systems is a new set of freqs are requested so the old system can stay in operation while the build and test is done on the new system. Then one morning, after all the construction and testing is done, the day shift arrives and are issued the new radios as the morning watch goes off duty they turn in the old ones.

That's about what happened in Florida when I was in prison. We went from a VHF simplex system to the then new Motorola Astro-Saber digital radios. Those things are huge though.

I don't know why someone would want to listen to a correctional facility though, what would you hear? "A-Dorm kick out your people for chow" "Pod B it's shower time", or maybe "Perimiter check..zone 1 checks ok".....man..I'm glad I got out of that job years ago.

I wish it were that easy. I'm not in range of the system much of the time, but while I was, I tried those settings, since they are the most common. While it is possible I messed up while programing the radio  , It did not track the system.

I went back to the database and found:

The US Penitentiary Atwater System
The Federal Correctional Institution Phoenix System
and The Federal Correctional Institution Florence System

that do not fit that pattern.

I think it may have a different base frequency.

eh .. it is an active trunked system, so we log it. *shrug*

:)

OK, I'm lost. What is the purpose of "logging it"? You mean you just write down the ID's and such? Then what?

As in logging (collecting) the information and adding it to the RR database.

why loggit

Twobravo--

I guess you could put it in the category of "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Some people like to listen to Fire trucks. Others like to listen to Tow trucks. Still others like to listen to dump trucks. Some actually like to listen to taxi cabs. It takes all kinds.

The purpose of this web site is to provide infomation for recreational scanner listeners to enjoy their hobby. We provide information so people can find the types of transmissions they find interesting.

Obvously the large city public safety systems attract the most attention. However, I have found people who will spend a great deal of time figuring out the details of an LTR system or a privately owned business system. This web site is for them as well.

I hope you find the things you are looking for here. Any new information is always welcome.

OK, no problem here. I was just seeking some clarity on the matter.

I had the problem getting the Federal Prison Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota to properly program into a Pro-96. Then decided to try using 407.000 as the freqency and it worked. It was not easy as it sounds.
After several days of listening and tracking the talkgroups. The information was posted on Radio Reference, when I was the Administrator for the Minnesota site on RR.
