Has anybody heard Elbert County Sheriff on the state system recently. A while back, someone mentioned that they had heard it on Cheyenne Mtn site. I can't hear the Cheyenne Mtn site from where I live. I was hoping that they were also active on another site. Logically, I would think Franktown would be a good site to hear them on, but I can't hear the Franktown site from here! I can get Silver Heights site fine. What sites have people heard Elbert County Sheriff on?

I'll say one thing, if Elbert does switch over right now, they're crazy. The coverage in that county from DTRS is really bad. They're going to need a new site or 2 or 3 to make it usable full time.

The Franktown site can hit Elizabeth. The Ramah, Bennett and Deer Trail sites hit some parts of the county. Then Cheyenne Mtn. overlays somewhat, but that site is way too far away.

They have virtually no coverage in Kiowa and the town of Elbert. It think they'll be on VHF for a while except maybe to talk to other agencies.

Wouldn't the Smoky Hill site pick up a bit of the NW corner of the county (Rattlesnake FPD area)? I've never been able to get much from Elbert County. I can't pick up their old VHF, so I was hoping that if they moved to the DTRS I might be able to pick them up. I couldn't hear Greeely PD or Loveland PD or FD before they moved to the system, but now with the Bald Mtn., Buckhorn Mtn., and Horsetooth sites, I can hear them.

You're probably right about Smoky Hill hitting some of that corner, but they still have gaping holes in a lot of the county, especially in and around some towns.

I just heard them on VHF today.

Thanks for the updates on them still being on VHF. Like I said, I've never been able to get their VHF channel, so if they do switch to the DTRS, I hope at least one of the radios would be affiliated with Smoky Hill so I could hear them finally! I think I remember reading in the Sunday Denver Post a few weeks back about how they only have 2 deputies (I think it was 2) on duty at a time. That is amazingly low for a county of their size. Can anybody else remember this article?
