I need some help with this one. I am need of a Bearcat 12 schematic for tuning of the radio because it's starting to drift. I am not about to give up such a sweet unit although I own a 350C and a Pro 202 not to mention all the pagers and portables. I just have a thing for the oldies I guess, I bought a patrolman pro 1 off ebay so that says something I suppose. Anyone that can help me out please do so by emailing me @ trapsh00ter@aol.com.

Thank You,
Gary C Miller

Electra didn't publish RF alignment procedures for the old crystal scanners. I tried to find this information a while ago, even tracking down some of the old Electra employees and had no luck. The BC12 manual is at www.mods.dk. Click on Uniden and then Manuals. It contains a schematic, parts list, and IF alignment info but that's it.

Is it on all channels, or only some i.e. are you sure it's the radio itself, or one or more of the crystals? If it's latter, you would not want to touch the radio itself.

I have an old BCIII-H (BC3-H) that still works, but recall the lack of front-end tuning info, which requires "special" test equipment, so they advised you to return it to the factory. That not being possible, maybe there is some old-scanner service type who could do this (if one could be located). Anybody checked with Bob Parnass ? (I don't think he does this kind of work for other people, but may have info).

I did talk to Bob but he had no info nor did David Lovell or the designer of the BC-101. It appears that the alignment procedure may be lost forever. Something to keep in mind if you are thinking of buying an old Electra crystal scanner.
