Hello all,

Just picked up a vintage Electra Bearcat III scanner out of pure nostalgia (I remember my old man had one going at all times back in the day). Rebanding is coming, but I figure why not listen to my County communications on this old thing for as long as I can, right?

Anyway I'm looking for some crystals for it. Some have suggested G&G Communications but I figured I'd see if anyone around here had some lying around that they'd be able to help me secure.

You can reply here or PM me.

Thanks!

I have some misc VHF/Highband & UHF Med CH's Crystals (P-5 & P-10) that work in my old
PRO-92,PRO-7A ,PRO-4 or Patrolman 4 & Regency 10 ch mob there old and I remember using
them in various scanners since the early 70's.(also have UHF in the 482.xxxx & 483.xxxx band) S.F.
Bay Area uses the 480.xxxx's mhz band (FYI).

If i remember right, the Bearcat's used a 10.8 MHz IF, instead of the common 10.7 MHz IF that just about everyone else used.

There's a guy on eBay that has a pretty good sized collection of crystals right now.

Put "police scanner crystal 10.8" in the eBay search box to see the listing.
You can also include the frequency in the search, but make sure everything to the right of the decimal has 4 characters.
For example, instead of adding 42.4, add 42.4000 into the search criteria.

You're correct about the 10.8 crystals, and thanks for the tip about eBay!
