At approx. 7:20 AM EST, Family Security contacted ACCFD to inform about an entrapment in an elevator at a church, in Athens, Ga. Reportedly, members of the congregation of Timothy Road Baptist Church spoke with Firefighters (Eng. 23?) stating that the elevator was "out of service," and that they were unaware that anyone was in the elevator. Apparently, somehow children entered in, and used the phone to call for help, or to just talk? Moral of the story: Watch you children, closely!

never heard of a church to have an elevator, let alone many 2+ story churches.

Several churches in the Metro Atlanta area are multi-story. Need the elevators for the disabled (for the ones that can't heal them).

Many churches also have separate but connected buildings for offices, gyms, preschools that are multi story and have elevators.

Widely Used

Our home church had decided to expand with an new wing that would incorporate an elevator, untilit was decided that a separate building was more economical. They keep all the seniors on the main floor, and just around the corner form they sanctuary. Our current church that we attend has the luxury of an elevator that covers three floors. I've seen other churches that were set up like TV stations.
