My mother has a BCTX15, which keeps her company, due to my dad’s passing and her being legally blind. She has a plethora of frequencies installed, including FM. However, she can’t scan local police, fire, first responders and the like. The only things scanning are CB frequencies, which she doesn’t want. I have a friend who is trying to eliminate CB from the options. How does he do this? This would mean so much to my mom-THANK YOU in advance!

My friend is setting up a custom folder containing-hopefully-all the frequencies she desires, and will be under orders to touch NO buttons, just knobs (LOL). If anyone has any ideas, please share!

Hi @GregGoodfellow and welcome to Radio Reference! I’m going to guess that the scanner is actually a Uniden BCT15X and not a BCTX15. 😂

Here is a very easy to follow instruction manual on that scanner. Just look at the section on adding and deleting stored channels.

Press Func L/O L/O to while it is scanning stop it scanning the CB Freq. But that being said it sound like nothing else is programmed or it is not setup properly.

Unfortunately, not yet, Dave. We went through the very-intensive online manual, but have been able to eliminate the CB channels. My friend was once a Radio Shack retailer, but this superior product is giving him fits. He is not used to such a
sophisticated product. My mom’s 90th birthday is late next month, and we would like the unit ready for her by then. Thank you for contacting me!
