From this morning.

Two alarm fire at Engine 6's firehouse in Elizabeth at 472 Catherine Street, no cause or anything determined as far as I know. Nothing about it yet on nj.com or News12 or anything.

Not official because there's no official source to cite this, but I heard Engine 6 is a total loss, (Not surprised).

Elizabeth, NJ 2nd Alarm Fire House Fire 12-30-12 - YouTube

Mutual Aid included Clark, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, and Scotch Plains on the cover assignment (Clark was requested later, the latter 3 were the original cover assignment) and Roselle to the second alarm.

It's definitely a total loss...no question. Photo posted by permission of Elizabeth Fire Incidents on Facebook...

Thanks for the pictures. I assumed it was a total loss. Considering the fire they had, I don't know how the truck would've made it out without some damage, I just didn't want to say anything for sure since I had no real source other than word of mouth.

For those curious, the crews of Engine 6 are now operating out of headquarters on Irvington Ave as "Squad 9", using reserve engine 12.

It's been years, I'm trying to think back, was Engine #6 firehouse at one time Engine #9?

Yikes! Wow. Not since the 1962 Mack B Closed-Cab replaced the 1929 Seagrave! But back then Engine 4 was still around on Pennsylvania, and the shop was still on East Jersey. You sir, saw the good old days!

They finally got the pumps working on Reserve 11 again, so Engine 6 is operating as Engine 6 out of Engine 3, at least as of today.

They were the good old days, my father worked in Engine #9 for 30 years, drove the back of the hook and ladder. I spent many hours playing in the firehouse. I don't remember the firehouse looking like that though, it's been many years since I've been in Elizabeth, I lived on Emma Street.

My Grandfather and Great Grandfather were both EFD. One was a squadman, the other driver/horseman.
