Elk Grove PD Listening and What Scanner to Select?

I am thinking about purchasing a Uniden SDS200. My primary goal is getting a radio that is fairly easy to use/program and I would like to monitor the Elk Grove Police department frequencies. Would that be a good choice for a scanner? Thanks for you help!

LOL. Easy to program depends on the user. It's looking like the SDS200 is the only real option for scanners that are available to receive P25 Phase II and handle multicast issues. There are cheaper models, and "easier to program" models, but what you've selected is presently about the best option out there right now.

Thanks -- I appreciate the reply. I think the SDS200 is the direction I will go. I have been watching the forum to see if there was a good SDR option and (to me) there doesn't seem to be a software package that will work as well as a the SDS200.

I use SDRTrunk and it works very well on simulcast systems, it will also allow you to monitor two 'channels' at one time.
