Not only can one hear the SO on this frequency but the regional air ambulance, Access Air is dispatched on this channel which operates out of the Elko Regional Airport. It can be interesting listening when it is sent on medical calls.

You'll find that this frequency and 158.895 are the "community channels". You are likely to hear various agencies on these. I'm a disaster volunteer with the Red Cross, and you will even hear us on these during operations. NHP also are heard here when coordinating with other agencies.
The Carlin Fire Department also is dispatched on this frequency. They have very nasty accidents on Emmigrant Summit and offer some very interesting radio traffic.

155.055 is the Elko County Sheriffs Office. Carlin, Elko, Wells, and Jackpot ambulance and fire departments are dispatched on this frequency along with Access Air. This is also the sheriff’s channel. If you’re in Elko, you can’t hear wells and Jackpot because the repeaters are too far away. Same goes for if you’re in wells you can’t hear the Elko stuff.
