Ok so I wasn't getting good results after trying this until I looked at the specs again. Specs said overall length 14 inches. I measured mine and it was very short of 14 more like 12.375 inches. So I adjusted it via the set screw to 14 inches. Better now. Just sharing in case anyone buys one and doesn't check it before mounting.

I've used the equivalent model I think the frequency range is 769-912 MHz. (or something like that) on my BCD536HP scanner for monitoring Illinois Statewide Starcom21 public safety system. It also works just fine on VHF, UHF, and frequencies in those spectrums. It's tough, been through hundreds of car washes, and just keeps on performing.
