The 12/04 Capital Hill Monitor edition has a nice piece on MD EMA....in the list of frequencies is 455.75 s - listed as "Emergency Alerting System." I have never come across this freq....anyone know how it's used and by which agencies?

There is also a nice breakdown of MD Nat Guard freqs within the edition. Overall, well done.

Nathan,

As a follow-up to the Cap Hill Monitors piece....they suggest that the only MD Nat Guard that you have direct access to at the EMA HQ is 139.06 - is this accurate?

The National Guard freqs were doing radio checks yesterday. I don't know if that's unusual for a Sunday - especially Sunday morning. There seems to be a lot of unusual air activity too. Perhaps this is all in conjunction with the inaugural. Eagle2 from the Park Police is also up today on their channel 1 with "Motor" units doing something with various checkpoints around the area.

[Edit] Looks like this was post 5000 for Maryland. We sure do some posting for a small state. (Yeah, I'm guilty.)

Well TinEar if you listened everyday @ 0800hrs. you would notice that they do radio checks and then again @ 2000hrs. it is all the Force Protection Sites doing Radio Checks then they do phone checks @ 0200 and 1400 everyday. Also from time to time you will hear MEMA units use those frequencies. Last week I used Central 2 and 3 to talk to the Deputy Directors on their way back from DC EMA. It is not out of the ordinary at all.

Doctor Dave no because we are now a Joint Operations Center with the MNG we have Access to allNG Channels that they have. However we have to use their radio but we still have access to the Central 3 repeater thru the OrbaComm Consoles. Just so you folks know they can use encryption on these frequencies if needed, but it is not full time.

Also it is 139.0625 the reason I gave 139.060 is because my Frequency counter does not read the 0625 part it just gives 060. So I gave the Wrong Frequency so everyone will have to forgive me on that one.

Anyway I hope I have clarified everything but I know that someone will have some question to ask.
