WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) - Emergency dispatchers in Carroll County
are having trouble this morning signaling county firefighters.
The county's 800 megahertz dispatching system has been out of
order since about 5 a-m.
Emergency authorities have asked that all fire stations be
manned for the time being because beepers carried by firefighters
won't be working during the outage.
Officials stress the 9-1-1 service is working fine, and callers
can report emergencies as usual.
While the dispatching system is down, some communications with
firefighters are possible via other frequencies and a backup paging
