I've noticed that the EMS service in Florence, SC uses a particular
code system when sending units out.

Example: 10Charlie1 - chest pains

Is this a nantional code system or does each local area have its own?

They are using the AMPDS (Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch System)....these codes are pretty much universal....I have a website with the codes listed at http://nctrafficman.net/AMPDS.html

Hope this helps and Happy Holidays! :D

Spartanburg was one of the first Co's to drop "codes" and dispatch the call as it was called in. If someone is puking his brains out then thats just about the way it goes to the radio. Greenville almost does the same thing. They call out the location before it is dispatched as "incoming" Medic 108 we have an incoming 100 Derwood Circle.
