I have the freqs & TG for VA Beach ambulances to talk to VA BCH General, Bayside and Princess Anne. I know they also talk to Leigh and CHKD. Would I need to put in the Norfolk freqs or just the talk groups to these hospitals?
CHKD is located in Norfolk so they supplied the 800mhz radio for that ER therefore you need to enter the Norfolk cc's. The only two hospitals that do not have 800mhz are the Navy Hosp and Maryview Medical Center. Bellharbor and Harborview ER's in suffolk don't have 800 mhz capabilities yet.
On NC's OP, he's asking specifically about VB rescue units to Leigh and CHKD. As I stated, Leigh does have a VB 800 radio at its ER. So the question remains: How does VB rescue contact CHKD? I doubt the VB ambulances have Norfolk 800 radios; I'm certain they still have the HEAR radios as does all hospitals. That's where I'd look first.
Steve , a while back VB radio's were programmed with norfolk hospitals norfolk gen, leigh, chkd and depaul. most VB portables have all of the norfolk channels in them for inter op unless something has changed since I retired
Most of the southside cities have each other TG"s programmed in all of their radios for inteop now
We have it in our ambulances so we can talk to Portsmouth Naval since that is where our OMD is. Everything else we use the Norfolk portables to call med control. They do not have the new tac channels that are posted in the DB. Also I have friends that work there and they have no info about those channels.
The new tac channels have been used for training execises and misc ops such as when the presidental candidates were here. The main fire tac channels will still be tac 3,4,5 tac 8,9,10,11 will be overflow ops such as big storms
