Just discovered this one today. On DMR systems, the TRX-1 will not toss up the E, or go to the selected mode for encrypted communications. It will pass along the garbled noise as though there is no encryption occurring. Just an FYI for those that do not know this tidbit. (I have mine set to pass encrypted as "tone" which sounds like the busy signal on phones. "BONK BONK BONK..."

I have mine set on TONE and that is what I hear on the ONE encrypted DMR freq I found close enough for me to monitor.

Might just be on trunked DMR then as this is for a few TG's on a Con+ system. Will test it on the Cap+, and NexEDGE's tomorrow.

Is it same for NXDN also? Or have you monitored any encrypted NXDN yet?
I have not listened to encrypted NXDN, but I know that my TRX-1 often mistakes clear NXDN for encrypted for some reason. I have heard the "bonk" when there should be none, but it is so quick it sounds like someone just pressed a DTMF key by mistake. I have since set my TRX-1 to just pass garbled audio.

I have a two DMR systems that do not trigger the encryption flag in neither Uniden or Whistler scanners and just has garbled audio but TG and UID indicates okay. So it's probably some DMR manufacturer that do not follow the DMR standard for signalling encryption mode, if that is even stated in the standards.

Testing a TRX1 on NXDN4800 and NXDN9600 with standard NXDN Encryption set, it will alert with a Tone.
With Enhanced Privacy (RC4) encryption set on a DMR channel it will not Tone/just pass garbled voice
With various bespoke Hytera encryption (non-RC4) formats set a DMR chnanel it will not Tone/just pass garbled voice
N1GAW - do you know if the system you refer to above that does alert with a Tone uses Motorola Basic Privacy then?
