I thought I had my PSR 600 & my Pro 197's figured out pretty good but a neighboring PD had gone encrypted and even with all the 500 mhz talkgroups & open & I-Call wildcards, I'm getting dead silence.Do the Gre's skip over encryption without a peep? I know the Unidens display a "ENC".

No, they squeal and squawk -- unless they've changed the soft/firm/ware.

No change to the firmware yet. It is very obvious when there is an encrypted transmission with the GRE made scanners.

If this is a Motorola 3600 bps system, the GRE scanners will ignore encrypted transmissions, as long as the first radio to get a channel grant uses encryption. If the first radio is not encrypted, then you may hear some encryption on these systems, depending on how much time there is between transmissions.
