To the group, is it possible to run a half wavelength shorted antenna at a resonant freq. to obtain a low impeadance at the feed-line, so that no impedance matching device will be required, running RG-8 coax.
Will it radiate?

Thanks in advance.

It appears that they are using some sort of matching network at the feedline point. In my scenario, I would be shorting the other end of the ant wire to obtain the low impedance matching.

I have been playing around with a long wire and an antenna analyzer, a shorted half wave, and it has been giving me pretty good results when the wire is shorted at one end and open at the feed line at the freq's of interest. The receive signals has increased significantly. Because of the weather I am unable to test it for radiation patterns and radio contacts outside, maybe another day.
