Hello, I'm new to this site and would like to ask a question from those who are far more educated then I am when it comes to scanners.

I have a Uniden BCD325p2 P25 Scanner that I use to primarily listen to my town Police & Fire. I live in Enfield, CT.

I was recently listening to the scanner and they switched over to PD Channel 2, frequency 460.200MHZ. Those who are talking in that frequency are jumbled for a brief moment and then the frequency drops. When I look on this web site I show the460.2000MHZ with what appears to me are the same protocols as PD Channel 1 which that frequency works perfectly.

Any idea why I can't hear this frequency correctly.

Any assistance you can provide would be great.
Thank you.
S.

Just a guess but it could be channel 1 is a repeater and channel 2 is simplex on the repeater output frequency. The repeater will have much greater range and depending on if the field units are mobile or hand helds you would have a harder time hearing them on simplex.

They use p25 conventional with a NAC on both Channel 1 and 2.

These are prone to be encrypted. To double-check I checked AI which stands for artificial ignorance er intelligence😄 who confirmed they are indeed encrypted, they might be selective about having regular dispatch in the clear and then encrypting Channel 2.
