Ok, lets try this again
Contrary to previous posts by others in the past year...here is the deal as local listeners may know that something is up.
Enfield is in the process of installing/testing new equipment. Pretty much its all infrastructure. Police and Fire are going to a three site simulcast system, and DPW is going UHF to play nice with the rest of the town departments. I do not have the new DPW freq off hand, the rest should be remaining the same.
So as far as scannerland is concerned, you will be able to hear Enfield Fire/Police in more locations due to the simulcast project. Previously the main repeater is at the Cox TV site on Town Farm Road with the backup at the PD. Now with three transmitters for each around town, life should be better.
This is the first major infrastructure upgrade since the system was put online when the new PD was built around 1992? Since then the CentraCom II consoles were upgraded to MCC5500's a couple of years back and the MSF5000's to MTR's.
Motorola proper techs have/will be fine tuning the simulcast sites and hopefully the switch over within a week or two, if not already.
