OK. Thanks.
I found that I was rx transmissions fine without entering the code. I don't know if I even need to do that.
I will test it both ways and see what happens.
With the Bank in `Open' mode and zeros in the CT/DC column you basically have the scanner in `tone search' mode when you've got the RxMode set to either CT or DC and, since the Bank *is* `open', you'll be also hearing *everything* whether or not you have a `tone'/`code' set. (Watch the bottom of the display and take note as to which `tone'/`code' is displayed when the agency or whatever you are interested in transmits and you can then enter it into the CT/DC column. From the manual this is one way you can easily set a `tone'/`code' for a freq you've only set to zero/search mode:
["If the special “search” code is in use, the scanner will instantly display any detected CTCSS code if programmed for CTCSS mode, or DCS code if programmed for DCS code. You can store the detected code into the channel memory by pressing ENT while the code is displayed."]
Personally, I haven't had that much `luck' using the above method but it's probably most likely because I'm probably too slow about hitting the `ENT' key. Probably because I'm usually not actually holding onto the scanner all the time? {WAN GRIN!} I've found that noting the `tone'/`code' and then manually entering it works `best' for me. As usual `Your Milage May Vary'. {VB GRIN!})
Once you've figured out which `tone'/`code' you want/need to listen to and have entered it into the CT/DC column you can switch the Bank to `Closed' mode and the only stuff you'll hear will be for the `tone'/`code' you've designated. (You'll still be able to hear the freqs that you've got zeroed in the CT/DC column, too. *However* you will hear *everything* on that freq and won't be benefitting from the CTCSS/DCTCSS abilities of the scanner like it sounds like you want to be able to do.)
Hope this helps?
