I have a Uniden BCD436Hp scanner and an trying to enter IFern into my unit. I have already have fire and police in the SD card but cannot get Ifern to work. I was given the Ifurn in analog and made a favorite for it but still cannot get it to work. I also realize that it it used only for major events. I did notice when i went into select service, the police and fire are on but interop has three lines thru it which i assume is off. I have tried to turn it on but will not turn on. I assuming that this must be on to get Ifurn the work.
I would appreciate any input to get Ifurn to work and how to turn interop on if needed

Thanks

I am in Oak Creek Wis. which is a suburb of Milwaukee ( Milwaukee county) . IFern is Mabas which stands for Mutual Aid Box Alarm System for fire calls. The system would cover southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois for calls. I can't seem to get the TGID into the radio let alone to get the select service to turn on Any help would be appreciated

Does it need to the interop in the setting turned to receive it? I can not get this to turn on which I would need some instruction on how to do it
Right now it would not turn on by pressing yes.

If in the "Select Service Type" menu, "Interop" has 3 lines, that means that there are no channels in the scanner with that service type.
Did you add the IFERN frequencies manually? If so, the scanner puts them in the Service Type "Custom 1" by default. You would need to change the Service Type for those frequencies to "Interop".

If you cannot turn it on inn the scanner itself, then it was never sent to the scanner. If the Interop service type is not enabled in your Sentinel profile, then channels & TGIDs tagged as Interop would not be sent to the scanner. Make sure that Interop is enabled in your profile, then write to the scanner again. Interop should now show as enabled, and you should hear traffic within range.\

When you see a Service type that is tagged as "Off" on the scanner, and you cannot flip it to "On" with the Enter key, it was not sent to the scanner the last time you wrote you file(s) to the radio.

I am new to this scanner, so in custom 1 it is on but the interop is still off. Also where would I find the profile to check that the download and monitor is on

In Sentinel. It's the small icon that resembles a tablet page with a pencil on it. Right under the V of the View drop-down menu.

Once you open the profile editor, click on the Scan Selection tab.

That's where you can set your Favorites lists to be downloaded, and if downloaded, set them to be scanned by default (or leave monitor off if it's a Favorites you don't want to engage at this moment).

The Service Type tab next to it is where you can set Interop on to be monitored.

To write the updated database, as well as any Favorites that you have also updated, use the 'Write to Scanner' function.

Put the scanner into Mass Storage Mode by connecting the USB cable to both the scanner and your PC, with the scanner running. You'll get a prompt asking if you want Serial or Mass Storage mode. To go to Mass Storage, press the E (enter) key.

Once the scanner gets into Mass Storage mode, you'll see that on it's display.
Select 'Write to Scanner' from either the drop-down Scanner menu, or use the icon highlighted in this screenshot.

Before writing to the scanner, be sure that you have the Service types you want enabled, and also that you have set your Profile to show which Favorites lists should be downloaded to the scanner, as well as which ones you want monitored by default.

I tried what JJMNIZ has wrote above. I changed the service types to expand it. Then I selected "Write to scanner it went to the scanner, but when I checked the service types it did not change it but remained the way it was without the changes in service types. I cannot figure out what I am missing on this unless some sort of protection on service types that is preventing me from making the change
