Entering race freq's into a 296D

I use the software that came with my scanner to enter in the freq's. I know people are going to say use ARC250 from Butel but I haven't yet. So using the software that came with the scanner what do I set the System Select to? Motorola Type 2 / APCO25 800mhz? Or no since the racing freqs are regualr analog 400mhz. Please help, I am a bit confused.

No need to set any type of trunking system since they are all conventional. Just program the straight frequencies and alpha tags if you use them.

One more question:

Once I enter in all the freqs what do I set the Description to, Trunk to OFF, ATT?, Delay? Beep? Record? Mode?, Steps?, Tones? What do I set those to?

Also how can I enter in a Name (ex. Rusty Wallace so when his freq comes up it says his name and or the Number 2) It looks like I have to enter in ID's on the right side then put the Description in next to it.

See I have a 235XLT and I can just put the freq under which car number I want (ex. 464.8750 under #8, and then when it somes up or I manually go to #8 I know I am listening to Dale Jr.) Is there a way to do this on the 296D?

If you're using the software that came w/ the scanner, the box after the freq. box should be the alpha tag. I usually leave ATT on. I think they all use CSQ but I'm not sure.

So the ID's and Description on the far right is for when you are entering them in on a trunked system and they are the talk group id's I assume.
