Error 005 and new SD card not working

I bought 2 new SD cards that were supposed to be pre-programmed but none of them are working in the whistler trx-2 scanner.
I've tried preparing them on the whistler software but it just comes up error 05 when I try them.

any help would be appreciated as to how I can fix this, all updates on the scanner are current too.

I also forgot to mention they stay on 0% on the loading screen.

Try Ez scan the drop down Scanner/SD card then Prepare scanner that will format the card correctly then do a restore.

Sorry mis read you have got an old card that works & the scanner works ok. Could you go into updates & see what firmware you have.
Seem to remember,older firmware & get an error. Tell us more.

What are you trying to do when you say that you are preparing them on the Whistler software?
Will that mean that you have a computer to access the scanner using USB and you can take a look in the SD cards, when the scanner are in its Off state, if there are actually some files on it?

The user manual says this:

05-00 Unable to load CONFIG_.BIN Reformat the SD card using the PC Application "Prepare SD Card for use" option. Replace the SD card if the problem persists.

05-01 CONFIG_.BIN file error Reformat the SD card using the PC Application "Prepare SD Card for use" option. Replace the SD card if the problem persists.

05-02 CONFIG_.BIN file error Reformat the SD card using the PC Application "Prepare SD Card for use" option. Replace the SD card if the problem persists.

05-03 CONFIG_.BIN file error Reformat the SD card using the PC Application "Prepare SD Card for use" option. Replace the SD card if the problem persists

So it could then be some sort of mismatch in the firmware versions as suggested. Maybe the SD cards where done for TRX1 instead of TRX2 or a mismatch between the USA version and the E version of software and firmware, or the SD cards are blank as it cannot find the first file it is supposed to read at boot. Do you have the E firmware installed in the scanner?

The "prepare SD card for use" in the EZ-Scan software means it will format the card and put boot files on it and after that it needs to be programmed.

EZ-Scan can import files using csv format and Steve Holloway over at Facebook have different programs that logs in to UK goverments webpages and fetch the frequency information of license holders from a certain area to produce files to be used for scanners. It might be needed to first make a Uniden file and then convert that to csv as I haven't seen any program that converts the data automatically to TRX.

If first programming a few channels and a trunked system in EZ-Scan and then export that as csv and read in Excel it would be easy to read a csv or HPD file for a Uniden scanner into Excel and compare what needs to be edited to match the Whistler format. If only a HPE format are available then there are programs that extract HPE into HPD files.

Yes, you can use wtrconv to convert frequencies from the Wireless Telegraphy Register to csv format, then paste into EZ scan from excel

markusjohn, if you prepared both of them with EZ Scan, you most likely deleted any preprogrammed information.
If you only attempted to prepare 1 of the cards, we can attempt to get your load the programming into EZ Scan and archive before we proceed.

A few questions first
What is the brand of SD Card?
Where did you acquire the pre-programmed SD cards?
Do you still have one of the pre-programmed SD Cards that you did not apply the prepare for use function?

Once I have received your responses, I will be in a better position to assist you.
