A while back, Escambia County abandoned their old 154.430 dispatch channel for one listed as 151.070. I'm also hearing them on 151.1225 tonight. I'm in Baldwin County, AL and the signal strength on both channels seems to be equal, suggesting it's a common transmitting site. Anyone know why they're doing this?

I happened to find the second dispatch channel quite by accident. This old scanner I was checking out doesn't do narrow band and was picking up that second dispatch channel on the 151.130 entry I have for ALDOT simplex operations. Oddly, the other dispatch frequency is also an ALDOT duplicate, as 151.070 is (or was) used for ALDOT ops at one time.

I live in Santa Rosa county FL. and of course listen to Escambia Fire. I still get hits on 154.430. I don't who's still on this convention frequency though.

Odd. I haven't heard anything on 154.430 in a while, although I don't listen to Escambia County regularly.

I don't know what the 151.070 freq is but the reason Escambia still simulcast dispatch on P25 and 154.43 is because dozens, maybe hundreds, of volunteer pagers are on that channel. Motorola was not able to offer a pager type alert to replace all those pagers with P25 alerting, at least cost effectively. They would not abandon that freq, they can't.
Pagers are really obsolete except for volunteer firefighters.
I'll research further to see what the 151.07 is.

well, this is it for "legal" stations on 151.070 ..... the only expired license was from 2003 (Plant City)

the "ARCHBOLD BIOLOGICAL STATION" did get my interest tho.... LOL ;-) sounds kinda X-files-ish.

I talked to the Chief of Communications and he confirmed there has been no change in Escambia County Fire Dispatch,
only simulcast is the UHF (P25) and the 154.430. And the reason is as I stated above. Old pager and handheld alerts. Maybe even some plectrons out there! I know I had one a long time!
What ever channel the 151.07 is, could have been a temporary patch.

I heard this frequency 151.07 is used primarily in the north end of the county.
It is only on the Bratt and Molino towers. The old "Tac 1"? I am still researching, seem to have archived all my old web page files and old knowledge!

A little late on the reply here:

Escambia Fire dispatch is still on the old 154.430, and it is also in the north part of the county (Molino and Bratt towers) on 151.070. Both are analog simulcasts of the main P25 dispatch on 460.575.

On the two analog channels, it is a simulcast of the dispatch side only. They are there to set off volunteer pagers.

Anyone know why the Brooadcasttfy Escambia feed has been down for 2 days? Who operates that?
Just when they finally fixed the low volume issue!
