Quick question on Escanaba Public Safety Frequencies in use.

I'm programming a scanner for my uncle and came across 8 frequencies in the Escanaba area in the
700 mhz band listed in the RR database as a p25 system.

Does anyone know, are these frequencies in use, were they ever in use or are they future use.
If they are used, is it a trunked system with talkgroups or conventional


I'm to far away to test them my self.

It is trunked system so you would need to program talk groups.
Delta county and Escanaba are on the MPSCS using 800MHz control channels there are different towers. One is Escanaba which the control channels are 868.9000, and 867.4000. The other is Garden City which uses control channels 868.4500, and 867.9500

As for the 700MHz I am not sure if it is for the future use or not as of yet. It is P25 I see though so you would still need a digital scanner. Thunderbolt the database administrator would know a lot more. I'm sure he will pop up here and others to may have more info on this.

I figure I will program them in and see what happens.

I was hoping someone from that area would know if they were in use or ever used since they have been licensed since 2007.

I'm going down there tonight so we'll see if I pick up anything.

Osloviking, thanks for the tower info, I had already programmed those and a couple others in the county and ones on the borders of surrounding counties.

This is his big jump to digital, he finally got tired of listening to a bunch of nothing.

Oslo - those are just mutual aid groups. They won't be used in the UP (or anywhere in Michigan) anytime soon. It's not a "system".

Oakland County is making plans to use these frequencies for Mutual Aid ops with neighboring counties. All of the equipment has been ordered and should be in place very shortly. They will eventually be used at other locations across the state, especially with mobile command posts. These frequencies operate in conventional mode only.

Escanaba PD

I live in Delta county near Escanaba.
Escanaba PD is still on the VHF band they are using 154.755
And all the Delta county fire departments & EMS are on 155.715
