Is there any Hope for this feature in the future? or do I need to save up to buy the much over-rated-over-expensive 996?

There is only one person you will get an answer on this from and hes not going to say if it will be in a firmware update until its released.

According to the announcement made by Uniden back in August...no, the ESK update will not be for the BCT15
As far as needing to save for a new radio....that's your choice bud. No one forced you to buy one in the first place.

Yes, but those models are different from the BCT15.
I dont really want to start a new thread so maybe someone here may know.. Does the 996 have the same "Temporary Lockout" Feature as the BCT15?

The 996 pretty much has every feature the BCT15 has with more on top (digital being the big one).
Think of it as the 15's big brother.

I hope they give us a ESK firmware upgrade. I have already dummped a 246t. Not a happy Uniden camper.........
Yes it does. Worked well in CO last summer.
You are welcome to your opinion but with that type of attitude don't expect either manufacturer to cater to (or even consider) your demands....

We were happy campers.. the BCT15 is a great scanner... But then my area announced they were going to ESK... Now I have a Brick to play with...

And thats exactly the reason these manufacturer's think they can #$% you up the ass and get away with charging you an extra $300 for a simple feature. Maybe if the scanner community got together and said "We want ESK for the BCT15. Quick screwing us around!" They might be more inclined to listen to us...
So your issue is with your area not with Uniden. Why in God's name should Uniden be forced to update your personal scanner every time your area makes a change? I assume that when your area goes digital you'll want Uniden to make your BCT15 digital capable right? And when your area goes encrypted you'll demand that Uniden release a decryption firmware update for the BCT15? And when they say no you'll make idiodic statements on random forums?
We all expect that technology will change and we'll have to upgrade our equipment. It's a fact of life and no manufacturer in any economic system will sell you a basic unit and then keep upgrading it for free every time technology in your particular area changes. Sell the BCT15 and get something else if money is such an issue for you.
And I want OpenSky. We all have to upgrade when thngs change. Sell your BCT15 and buy a PRS500or Pro106. Get on with life.
