Bexar Co Alarm comes in clear without the annoying tone. I can hear the open SO channels. Some parking and other misc traffic.

Yeah BCFA sounds alot better on the 800 side..keep an eye out on the sapd patrol talkgroups and SAFD groups sometime the dispatchers will be in analog for a few days then got back to digital, seems to roll through all the channels sometimes, i have not got the upgrade yet, just monitor everybody through the work radio, was also wondering if any new analog talkgroups have popped up since esk was turned back on in 05

I hear just the dispatchers for SAPD. Not too sure about other TGIDs, but at least their dispatchers as well. It's on purpose as I'm hearing a two-way conversation on a Public Works TGID.

I also get tone-outs with no voice, I've noticed. And for what it's worth, it's better than not hearing anything.

I don't what version you are on, but the latest update from the Yahoo Group is vastly improved. NOTE: this is NOT a discussion about firmware; but merely a suggestion for readers to visit the appropriate site since there are new updates periodically released.

And I like the cost of the ESK release.

Regards, Mike

Yeah it is that analog bug or whatever it is that rolls through the city channels, I use to have the city pd channels in the work radio but when it got reprogrammed they took them out, what can ya do. And the tones come across in analog because(from what a radio tech from m/a com told me) that a tone cannot be sent out over digital provoice hence why e-tones and regular fire and ems tone out's are in analog.

Also only the dispatch consoles can swith from analog to digital and vice versa, the portables and mobiles are all provoice enless analog talkgroups are programmed in the radio, but they can't turn analog on and off on a channel.

I am 99% sure that the field radios that have ProVoice enabled will automatically hear analog if the group is switched by the console operator. Same if the ESK is turned on or off; but sometimes the radio needs to be power cycled.

oh yeah you can recive digital and analog transmissions on any channel but field units cannot transmit in analog enless a talkgroup is programmed as analog, at least here in San Antonio, which is why you can only hear the dispatcher and not the field units when a dispatcher is transmitting in analog.
