Is Essex County working toward moving Fire & EMS paging off low band onto the digital VHF system? Yesterday & this morning they’ve been broadcasting 2 tone pager tones followed by verbal 5 counts. I’ve been hearing this over the Whiteface & Defience sites

I was listening to the broadcastify scanner the other day and heard them send tones over P25 however haven't heard them while scanning. Is there a differant frequency they are sending them out over? Maybe im having a technical issue but I still hear units calling to dispatch and dispatch calling to units

They've been sending calls out on the P25 for almost 2 years since I started listening from Defiance, Whiteface and Angier. However, you will also hear the tones on 46.4600mhz as well. Clear the NAC codes and see what comes in.

Essex County will broadcast an alert tone & brief announcement, sometimes simply “stand by whatever agency” or sometimes agency, address & nature of call, over the P25 system. Departments are actually dispatched on 46.4600(CSQ). That frequency is only used for paging. Traffic between units & dispatch is all on the P25

I can't confirm or deny as I don't monitor that area, but I can plug in the freqs and let you know what I hear from my end. I listen to the VT/NY border stuff and I could've sworn a while ago I heard calls on a P25 EMS channel for LP, could be wrong but I can at least report back.

Essex County does not dispatch Lake Placid EMS. I believe they’re dispatched by Lake Placid Fire.

I may just be too far away to hear comms. But I've monitored LP freqs listed in the database and have only heard a couple calls come over P25 EMS dispatch belfry. Sorry I can't provide more assistance.

The last time I was in Lake Placid (November 2025) I thought Lake Placid EMS was being dispatched over the Fire channel of 154.430 DCS 311. Next time I am up there, I'll see if I can confirm that.

LP EMS is toned out on 155.220 (151.4 PL), last verified 10/12/2025
LP Fire is toned out on 154.430 (D311)

I believe when you hear them on County Dispatch (P25) channels, they are just advising "County" that they are in/out on calls to keep them advised for Mutual-Aid purposes. I can't ever recall hearing them toned out on 46.4600. I have personal findings/records of two-tone paging tones for Essex, and I don't have records of them. Could things have changed? Yep. But as of last fall, this is all the info I can provide. Hope it helps.

I am noticing on 151.085 Essex county NY maintenance and department of transportation that they are testing out talk group IDs of five three 14 13 is this because they are working on a new radio system I have never seen anything other than talk group ID one I'm using an sds-150.. from what I gather highway ops is TGID 5 with active radio maintainable testing the last few days..Confined after the 5 test count at end of transmission it said highway ops .. Always was TGID 1 as the only TGID is this normal on p25 non trunked? As I have never seen any other tgids used
