Has anyone heard if Irvine is implementing a digital system? I can no longer hear law enforcement but I can still pick up fire, EMS and board of education on conventional. I am using a bearcat BCD396xt scanner. If anyone knows frequencies please post. I have all of the conventional frequencies now. I was able to hear law enforcement on Monday but haven't heard a single thing since. Anyone know anything?

FCC database shows nothing recently licensed or pending.

A few possibilities:
- They have changed PL/DPL tone???
- New frequency and license is in the works
- They have switched to NXDN (Nexedge) which they are licensed for...

You might try searching???

Estill SO and Irvine PD (159.1350/KNEJ560) are now P-25, NAC is 911. Alas, they are hiding behind encryption....

Are they encrypted as in NXDN or just P-25 digital? I know they flipped the P-25 switch a few weeks ago, but all I could tell is just that they were P-25 digital. I see they have a NAC code listed there, it's my understanding that's just like the old PL/DPL tones?

I've just ordered a 996XT which can do the NAC codes as well as P-25.

They are, unfortunately, encrypted P-25....
