I have an Eton Elite Executive receiver, and have difficulty getting any stations. I’m not sure if I’m using it incorrectly, or perhaps it’s defective. Occasionally I get foreign stations, but I have no idea what country they are from because of the foreign language issue. Would be useful if the radio displayed the country. Anyway, I don’t find the radio particularly useful since I can’t really get any legible stations. Any suggestions are appreciated. I’m new to this group and the use of these kind of radios

Please provide what antenna you are using. The antenna is 90% of shortwave reception. The radio is just 10%. The telescoping whip isn't long enough.

That’s probably the problem, I’m using the whip that comes with it.
A long wire antenna works wonders. Either make one or buy a $6 one from Amazon. I have one strung around the walls of a room and it works really well. Outside would be even better.

Short-wave.info is an easy way to find out what is scheduled on SW so you can look up the frequency you find a signal on and see where it‘s coming from.
