Just a question ?

Does anyone know when you turn on an Edacs radio if it shows up in the "Detail Log area of Etrunker" ? (this would be when the radio logs on to the system upon being turned on) Or does it only show in the detail log area only when the radio changes channels ?

Thanks in advance ..

I'd think it would depend on how the radio is programmed. ie, does it affilifate on power up/channel change or on push to talk?

EDACS affiliation

Actually it does both. Logs on when the radio affiliates with the system and will track each radio unit as it changes talkgroups.

Hi Kevin,

With our Province-wide EDACS system here in Saskatchewan I do know for sure that if a radio is turned on or if it changes channels, the affiliation does show up on Etrunker. However I do notice that Etrunker misses the odd channel change, although I think that has to do with reception sometimes on my part. I know it doesn't happen very often.

Regards,
Richster.

Thanks for the reply. Here in Edmonton the radios seem to be programmed not to go to a particular home channel when they are turned on, thus they just login and dont affiliate. They only show in the Detail Log area when they change channels. It would be nice to see the difference between a home group and a simple channel change in the detail log, but here the home channel isnt being used.

I never see affiliations with ETrunker.

Dave,

Did you set Affliations to one of the following 3 selections Both, scrn, disk?

Sellect O for options, then press A untill it says bth for both, scrn for screen, or dsk for disk logging.

Yep. I've been running the *Trunkers for a while and I have everything turned on. I have never seen a radio affiliate to any of the EDACS systems in the Albany area.

Did you check your xxxxPAGE.TXT file?

This is where the log would have them listed.

No data ever appears there. The local EDACS systems do not generate any sort of activity that shows up on the lower half of the screen or gets logged.

On the EDACS system I listen to the only agency that affiliates are the police groups. All other city service radios do NOT affiliate. So it would depend on how the radio is programmed if it alliliates or not. By the way, the police radios on this system are also the only ones that can transmit in digital mode so that may have something to do with why they are the only ones that affiliate.
