Those European & North African longwave stations are making it to the East Coast really well these nights. Tonight I got a splendid copy of Chaine 1 (Algeria) on 252 kilohertz. No 'sideband tricks' were needed, AM mode all the way, the music was clear as a bell. Also got fairly decent copies of 171 kHz Morocco and Radio Monte Carlo on 216 kilohertz.
I used my Icom IC-R75 with a ferrite loopstick (homemade; tunable) attached to the high-impedance antennas terminals. No electronic gizmos or outdoor devices.
So don't y'all forget the basement band while messing with the MW dx'ing. Winter will be over in a couple months.
