Home Patrol listening this morning, I'm getting a lot of stops on Incident 12 [13-134 Black Hawk County] as the search continues for two little girls who went missing in Evansdale yesterday. https://twitter.com/KWWLcolleen/status/224178934705688576 a local reporter has hinted that a unknown party may have been involved. As the ordeal continues I've noticed the officers are becoming more tight-lipped about passing sensitive information by radio. It finally soaked in that Incident 12 is being relayed by Scanner Radio (android). At this moment Black Hawk is #2 in the Top 50 list with 238 listeners.

Here's a link to the Courier story online: UPDATE: Clock ticks away as search continues for two missing girls in Evansdale

I've been listening too for the last 2 days. Hoping they find them soon! You have the Home patrol? How do you like it? I am thinking about getting one.

This is my first radio, so without a real basis of comparison, I might be willing to recommend Home Patrol for the novice. I'm sure an old hand would would see difficulties in how the user is able to manage the device interface. One definitely needs a strategy for quickly narrowing down a broad scan when an interesting incident occurs. It looks like someone has loaded some icalls into the database, so if you allow the HomePatrol Sentinel software to overwrite a favorites list, you might end up mistakenly awkwardly playing an icall in public.

Looks like they are wrapping up the search for the day. I'm sure they are making the best use of all the techniques they've learned in the last couple of days. Although not as dramatic, or expansive, radio listening is similar to when we listened to Joplin. At first, all the details, all of the gut-wrenching humanity, are right out in the open. As time goes on, it gets to where we are only hearing the mechanics of the operation.

Thanks for the info! I assume you can program it via a computer? I want one mainly for the size and being able to use it when I travel to CR or DM.
