Events in Cuba

Has anybody been monitoring any comm's from Cuba with the protests happening? i.e.: Hams, CB'ers, Pirate radio, Shortwave, other? I heard phone and/or internet access was shut down either entirely or partially through out the country so my guess is the radio traffic might pick up.

Radio Havana Cuba is still on HF but there's no telling what the slant may be in those broadcasts. I had not seen any news about the protesting so I'll keep an open air on HF anyway since I don't live close enough to receive any of the traffic in the VHF or any non-HF bands. I'd be curious to hear what Radio Havana does have to say also.

Police dispatch in Cuba is in VHF 150 to 160 MHz range. Once years ago, the ducting was so optimum I could receive them (as well as FM/TV) in South Miami.

At Key West, the Truman Annex has towers and log periodic antennas pointing the 90 mile path over water so you can be sure State Department is tuned in.

Scanner fans around Key West should try to capture what they can.

I just saw this YouTube video in my notifications today. Looks like Cuba is jamming the ham radio frequencies now.

I'm seeing multiple videos all over YouTube of the jamming going on. I tried 40m last night (I'm in NJ) and Im pretty sure the noise I was hearing was the jamming noise.

Yeah I was listening to Radio Havana Cuba last night on 6.000 MHz and 6.165 MHz also when I got home from my local Thursday ARC meeting. I was up at the amateur radio club meeting prior to that last night where in the radio room we were checking out some of the 40-m jammed signals also.

The socialist broadcast station, Radio Havana Cuba, was trying to make everything sound like it was no big deal and everything was okay. They were also trying to present things with news like how they were doing things for their people in Cuba to help them. It was a complete lie and they try to make their English broadcast sound as American as they can in the format and even American dialect they speak in. It's been well known forever that they just say what they want to on the government owned and run Radio Havana Cuba but listening last night it was just an obvious whitewash of what is the truth I'm sure down there now.
