As of yesterday, 11/10, Everett has made the switch over to their UHF frequency of 470.050 PL186.2. Not much can be heard on the VHF besides the occasional ambulance, with no answer from anyone. Therefore, I am forced to believe that it is no longer operational. Other FD's in the area have also been advised to use their UHF radios when going mutual aid. Most FD's in the area have had UHF radios installed as part of the MBHSR radio plan, which I will try to outline here at a later time. Currently a number of new UHF frequencies have come online as simulcasts, but only Milton and Everett have made the switch over to their new assignments as of today. Cambridge FD has also completed a bi-directional cross-band UHF to 800 project that repeats both their dispatch and fireground channels 14 and 16. Again, all of these changes are for the purpose of enhanced interoperability in the Metro Boston area.
