Kittredge Fatal Duplex Fire | 5280FIRE
12/07 ~ At 22:47 Evergreen Fire Communications received multiple reports of a structure fire with a possible party trapped at 26180 Kingsbury Road in Kittredge. 911 callers reported a fully involved deck spreading into the house. First due crews reported a 2 story residential duplex with one half heavily involved and confirmed party trapped on the second floor. Dispatch toned out an upgraded residential working structure fire brining more units. Engine 2 laid in and crews advanced attack lines for an offensive attack / rescue. With deteriorating conditions, command ordered a withdrawal of the structure and went into a defensive mode with a water tender shuttle established. Elk Creek Fire also responded to assist with rural water operations. About one hour into the incident a transition was made to offensive / recovery mode with the fire placed under control by midnight. Crews overhauled into the morning. During the recovery operation one victim was found deceased. The fire is under investigation.
