Today, the FAA opened applications for people interested in serving as test administrators for The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST).

while i understand the need for, and generally support, the overall purpose here, the "test to recreate" concept feels alot like a requiring a permit to have fun. a wet blanket indeed.

like an explosives license. it really takes fun outta things.

tho, ironically i might add, having fun with explosives often times is enhanced by having a wet blanket around.

a little fun can go a long ways sometimes, depending on the prevailing winds.

FAA killed the drone market with their requirements for ID beacon technology. To expensive for me for just a hobby. Selling mine soon. Traxxas got out of the drone market and assume because of this.

A drone under 250 grams is still viable, no license or beacon ID required for recreational hobbyists. The beacon ID is over three years away from implementation.

Those under 250 grams can't handle much wind flying outside. My Aton has weight that does a good job bucking the wind.
